Our Successes

As an association functioning for over two decades, here are some of the ways we impacted the audio-visual sector in Barbados.

The Longest Running Local Film Festival

This annual Film Festival provides an all-round experience as it includes:

  • Film Screenings

  • 48-Hour Film Challenge

  • Screenwriting Competitions

  • Networking Events

  • Awards Ceremony

We prove that Representation, Community and Acknowledgment matter.

The Cultural Industries Development Bill

We played our role in advocating for and developing policies that encourage the growth of the audio-visual sector in Barbados.

The Cultural Industries Development Act was proclaimed in 2015, and provides a legal framework for the development of the cultural industries sector through duty-free concessions for people with businesses in the creative sector, for “tools of trade” (i.e. materials and equipment used to create products and services).

The Cultural Industries Development Act notes the terms and conditions under which incentives and waivers are provided.

Workshops and CVQ

We provide educational opportunities that empower our membership and enhance the national skillset.
